Philippine coral reefs under threat
New report says coral reefs are threatened by poaching, deforestation and illegal mining.

When it comes to marine biodiversity, the Philippines is regarded as something of a superpower.
But a new report from the University of the Philippines says the country’s coral reefs are under threat from poaching, deforestation and illegal mining. According to the report, only less than five per cent of the reefs are still pristine.
