Taliban gunmen have launched a wave of attacks in the Afghan city of Kandahar, leaving at least eight people dead – including six gunmen.

The main target was the Kandahar governor’s compound. Gunmen also launched an attack from the traffic police department, apparently targeting the Afghan Intelligence Service, which is based nearby.

In the northwest of the city, a gunbattle raged in a school, and a police compound near the Serposa area was also attacked.
