The Greater One-horned Rhinoceros are often a target for poachers as their horns fetch huge sums on the Chinese medicine market.
But Nepal recently had a successful run in conserving this vulnerable species and numbers have gone up significantly in the country’s Chitwan National Park.
Also known as the Asian or Indian One-horned, their population has edged from 408 in 2008 to 503 according to a recent count in April.
