Space shuttle’s final mission
Endeavour to launch $2b experiment into mysteries of ‘anti-matter’ on last flight.
On its 25th and final flight, space shuttle Endeavour’s six-man crew will deliver a $2b science experiment to the international space station.
Scientists hope the experiment, called the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer and planned for more than a decade, will shed light on the mysteries of ‘anti-matter’ – and possibly pave the way for humans to travel deeper into space than ever before.
Trent Martin, the project’s manager, told Al Jazeera: “Essentially, what we’re trying to do is to map the cosmic rays that are coming and hitting the earth so that we can tell what’s out there, what’s in the universe.”
