Fear of further violence in Nigeria
Concerns that deadly unrest could continue, despite reassurances from president.

Nigeria’s president says next week’s governor elections will go ahead as planned, despite deadly riots in the north of the country.
Post-election violence in the predominantly Muslim north has left at least 200 people dead since last week’s presidential vote.
But Goodluck Jonathan, the president, said on Thursday that calm is being restored to the region.
