Gaddafi rejects rebels’ truce offer

Libyan government rejects ceasefire offered by opposition protesters as UN envoy visits Libya.

Emboldened by recent military gains, the Libyan government has rejected a ceasefire offer by the opposition National Council.

The offer came as UN envoy Abdelilah al Katib visited both Gaddafi loyalists in Tripoli and opposition officials based in the eastern city of Benghazi.
