Parliamentary elections hounded by power shortages as government pledges to fix the problem.

One of the biggest issues effecting Nigeria’s parliamentary and presidential elections is electricity, or rather the lack of it.
For decades, the country has suffered from chronic shortages of power, and repeated promises to fix the problem have long been a staple of election campaigns.
But private sector funding may be the way out, as Al Jazeera’s Barnaby Phillips reports from Lagos, the commercial capital of Nigeria.
