Tunisian refugee influx alarms Italy

Thousands of refugees fleeing unrest and poverty in Tunisia prompt diplomatic response from Italy.

The unrest across North Africa has pushed some 15,000 refugees to the shores of Italy this year.

In response to the influx, the Italian government has sent its foreign and interior ministers to meet the Tunisian prime minister.

Al Jazeera’s Andrew Simmons reports from Minayo in Sicily, the location of one of 13 holding centres in Italy.
