Battles intensify in Libya
Rebels describe assaults on opposition-held territory as act of desperation on Gaddafi’s part.

The government of Muammar Gaddafi has reportedly launched a wave of attacks on Az Zawiyah, in Libya’s northwest, and the cities of Benghazi and Ajdabiya in the east.
Troops also launched an assault on the Ras Lanuf oil refinery near Gaddafi’s hometown of Sirte.
There are also reports of new battles breaking out in Misurata.
The opposition has dismissed the attacks as an act of desperation.
