Gaddafi stronghold seeks help rebuilding

Like other Libyans, Bani Walid residents want government to provide electricity and repair damaged homes.

Libya’s interim government says it has received $97bn in frozen assets from European banks. The assets had been frozen during the uprising against the late Libyan leader, Muammar Gaddafi.

However, with the country still recovering from war, many Libyans wonder when they will see the benefit of that cash.

Among them are residents of Bani Walid, a Libyan town devastated by the conflict between fighters and forces loyal to Gaddafi, who are demanding government aid for basic needs, including electricity and repair of homes.

Imran Khan reports from the former stronghold of Gaddafi.
