Indonesia tackles lack of birth certificates

With millions of children without papers, ggvernment campaign aims to help families navigate process.

More than 60 per cent of Indonesian children do not have birth certificates, often making it difficult for them to go to school, apply for identity cards and get married later in life.
The government has started a campaign to help families to get birth certificates more easily, but legal aid workers fear that at the end of the year, when the drive ends, millions of children will still be without certificates.
