Paralympian eyes Olympics glory after ‘miracle’
Former paraplegic athlete training for able-bodied games after cycling crash led to her regaining mobility.

Paralysed from the hip down since she was 13, a 27-year-old handcyclist has started walking again after she was hit by a bicycle last year while training in her wheelchair for the 2012 London Paralympics.
Doctors are astounded by Monique van der Vorst’s case and have no explanation for her amazing recovery.
Van der Vorst has just signed with a professional cycling team and is now setting her sights on competing in the able-bodied Olympics in Brazil in 2016.
