UK-based charity provides relief for children in Africa’s largest slum, Kibera, in the form of ballet.

A British charity is giving ballet lessons to children living in one of Africa’s largest slums, in an initiative to help keep them off the rough streets.

Twenty-five children in the slum of Kibera, based in the Kenyan capital Nairobi, have been staying after school for the past year to learn the basics of ballet.

According to one student, the activity gives her the chance to express herself artistically, and become more sharp in class. It also gives her a chance to just have fun, something many children in slums lack.
