Therapy for Somalia’s children of war

Mogadishu centre provides traumatised children not only with food and education, but also therapy.

Therapy for Somali children of war

Having survived one of the worst famines in Somalia’s history, the United Nations says children still face death, injury, and recruitment into the nation’s ongoing civil war.

One centre in Mogadishu aims to help children vocalize and face the trauma they endured in a time of famine and war.

Part of a UN-funded programme called “Child-friendly spaces in unfriendly times,” the centre takes children from camps and allows them to share their experiences through group therapy and play sessions.
