NTC fighters look to shape new Libya

Fighters who toppled Gaddafi say they will only return home when a strong army and police have been created.

Many fighters for the National Transitional Council [NTC] say they will only return to their homes when a strong army and police have been created.

Zintan has emerged as the military power of the western mountains, with its fighters credited with leading the charge against Tripoli.

Some of the military hardware might be there, but most of the fighters are still in Tripoli, and have so far refused calls to go back home.

NTC brigades from different parts of Libya have moved to the capital to fill the security vacuum, and some want to be part of the power-sharing negotiations.

Al Jazeera’s Hoda Abdel-Hamid reports from Zintan.
