More Syria residents flee to Jordan

The UN estimates that at least 2,900 people have been killed across Syria in government crackdowns on protests since March.

Many residents have been fleeing to neighbouring Jordan to escape the unrest, some crossing legally at Al-Ramtha border crossing while others entering illegally from elsewhere along the border.

While the Jordanian authorities have detained many illegal refugees, they have not been sending them back to Syria.

Al Jazeera’s Jane Arraf reports from the Jordanian city of Al-Ramtha in the country’s northwest.
