Clinton blasts Pakistan for ‘aiding Taliban’

Despite criticism, US secretary of state says price of Washington disengaging with Islamabad is too steep to consider.

Hillary Clinton, the US secretary of state, has defended Washington’s strategy to try to end the war in Afghanistan and criticised Pakistan for allegedly harbouring Taliban fighters.

Pakistan’s government has denied claims from Clinton, and other high-level US officials, that Islamabad’s inability to eliminate Taliban strongholds has further destabilised a region already fraught with violence, tension and unrest.
