Farmers’ suicides spike in India
Concern grows as suicide rates skyrocket among the country’s more than 600 million farmers.

Mounting debts, international competition and climate change are all being blamed as the reason for a rising number of Indian farmers who are taking their own lives.
Official figures say at least 17,000 farmers committed suicide in 2009.
