US authorities have charged a “troubled” 22-year-old man with murder and attempted murder for the killing of six people and the wounding of 19 others, including Arizona congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords.
Jared Lee Loughner is due to appear in court to face the charges on Monday in Arizona, where he is alleged to have launched a shooting rampage at a crowd meeting their congresswoman.
The mass shooting has raised new questions about the inflammatory language of political debate in the United States.
