According to a recent study on road safety, of the 3,500 people who die in traffic accidents every day, 85 per cent come from poor countries.

In Bangladesh in particular, the World Health Organisation reports there are at least 20,00 accidents every year, with more than half of them involving the death of pedestrians.

Now some experts are predicting such road accidents could become the country’s leading cause of death within the next 10 years.
