A typhoon is bearing down on hit southern China, where residents are bracing themselves for more misery.

Swollen rivers and landslides have already killed 135 people across the country since the start of July.

More than 35 million people have had their lives disrupted by the floods and landslides, and more than a million people have been displaced.

Al Jazeera’s Melissa Chan reports from the popular Chinese tourist destination of Hainan.
