Pedrosa wins German MotoGP

Spaniard edges out overall champion Jorge Lorenzo after race restarts following crash.

“He [Pedrosa] had more pace than me and it was impossible for me to follow him,” Lorenzo told BBC TV.

“I’m quite satisfied … quite happy with second place which is very positive for the championship,” he said.

Despite finishing second, Lorenzo, riding for Yamaha, holds a huge lead over Pedrosa in the standings.

With 10 rounds of the championship remaining, Lorenzo, who won the previous three races and has finished no worse than second all season, leads the pack with 185 points.

Pedrosa, in second place overall, has 138 points and Andrea Dovizioso, an Italian, is third with 102 points.

Meanwhile, Italy’s Valentino Rossi, who competed for the first time in six weeks since breaking his leg at a home race, just lost out on a podium finish.

He came in fourth behind Casey Stoner of Australia.
