Robert Byrd, the longest-serving member in the history of the US congress, has died.
Byrd, who was 92, served for 57 years, held more leadership positions and cast more votes than any other US legislator.
A Democrat, he was also a vocal opponent of the US wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
