Cleaning up after the riots

Clean-up under way after scenes of anarchy saw buildings in Thai capital go up in flames.

Thailand protests unrest

Clean-up operations are under way in Bangkok, Thailand’s capital, days after the largest shopping centre in the country was burnt down during deadly unrest between the red shirt protesters and security forces.

The destruction of the second largest shopping centre in Southeast Asia has caused a loss estimated between $15 and 30bn on the buildings alone.

And Bangkok’s stock exchange was also damaged, bringing a halt to trading and threatening economic growth in the country.

Al Jazeera’s Step Vassen reports.
