Dying languages living in New York
Hundreds of threatened languages are preserved by immigrants and their decendants.

New York is one of the world’s most cosmopolitan cities and it is arguably the most diverse linguistically.
There are as many as 800 languages spoken in the city, making it a thriving centre of ethnic vibrancy, but some of those languages are in danger of being lost.
Al Jazeera’s Kristen Saloomey takes a look at how some people are working to prevent that.
