Power cuts anger Pakistan traders

Traders say government’s energy saving measures will destroy their businesses.

In an attempt to tackle the power shortages that are plaguing Pakistan, the government has ordered shopkeepers turn out their lights at 8pm every night.

The cuts have led to violent street protests across the country by traders who say the move will destroy their businesses, but so far the government has refused to be swayed.

Al Jazeera’s Kamal Hyder reports from the city of Rawalpindi.
