College students in India’s Telangana district are fighting to separate the region from the state of Andhra Pradesh.

Telangana is the largest of three districts in Andhra Pradesh and the home of its capital, Hyderabad, India’s information technology (IT) hub.

However, it is also one of the most underdeveloped regions in the country.

The movement to form a Telagana state began in 1969, with a student uprising in which more than 400 people died.

In December of last year, the Indian government announced it would start the process to form the state, but bailed out two weeks later.
