Sudan warns foreign poll monitors
President threatens to “throw out” election observers over calls to delay April 11 vote.

Preparations are under way in Sudan for the country’s first multi-party national elections set for April 11.
But recently, there have been increasing calls from election observers and opposition groups to postpone the poll date amid widespread concerns, including reports that hundreds of thousands of candidates’ names are still missing from polling lists.
In response to the delay calls, Omar al-Bashir, Sudan’s president, has threatened to expel all international election monitors.
He said: “If they interfere with our affairs, we will cut their fingers off, put them under our shoes and throw them out (of the country).”
