Church abuse victims demand action

Many victims say Pope Benedict XVI’s letter of apology does not go far enough.

Pope apologises sexual abuse

Pope Benedict XVI has issued a letter of apology to victims of sexual abuse by the Roman Catholic clergy in Ireland and has said that action needs to be taken to reform the religious institution.

But the letter does not call for the resignations of clergy involved in an alleged cover-up of much of the abuse and many victims say the pope’s actions are not enough.
