Internet technology developed in Kenya is being used to help governments and aid workers on the ground in the wake of the recent earthquakes that struck Chile and Haiti.

Ushahidi is an online mapping tool that collects e-mail, text and Twitter reports to provide real-time information to help rescuers pinpoint their search efforts.
