Second arrest

The attack took place at the start of the 1992-95 war which erupted when Bosnia declared independence from the former Yugoslavia.

Ganic, who has appeared at City of Westminster Magistrates’ Court, was remanded to custody until March 29, the police statement added.

Al Jazeera’s Aljosa Milenkovic, reporting from Belgrade, said Ganic had been detained at the London airport once before on February 26, while on his way to Libya.

He was, however freed a day later, prompting the Serbian Interpol office to demand an explanation from the UK.

“But today apparently the UK police are acting on the same warrant issued by Serbia and the Serbian special prosecution office,” Milenkovic said.
