Indonesia encourages tiger adoption
Government proposes controversial initiative to help endangered Sumatran tigers.

With fewer than 500 Sumatran tigers left in the wild, Indonesia’s government is considering a scheme that will allow people to keep the critically endangered animals as pets.
The forestry ministry says all that is required is $1,000 and a large cage.
Environmentalist are outraged but, as Al Jazeera’s Step Vaessen reports, some Indonesians already are taking part in the government’s new initiative.
