Caught in Sudan’s ethnic faultline

Abyei denied a say in the January 9 referendum to decide whether Sudan will split into two nations.

More than eight million people in south Sudan are expected to vote for independence from the north, in next month’s referendum. But people in one important region have been denied a say.
