Myanmar’s newly-released pro-democracy leader, Aung San Suu Kyi, is backing calls to convene a meeting for all ethnic groups in the country.

The purpose is greater equality for the country’s ethnic minorities, who claim to have suffered decades of discrimination under the military government.

But Aung San Suu Kyi’s supporters are fearful that her backing for the proposal could land her back in detention.
