Rio drug traffickers escape crackdown

Brazilian police admit majority of 600 gang members escaped arrest during crackdown in the Complexo do Alemao favela.

Just days after Brazilian police surrounded the drug gang stronghold of Complexo do Alemao in Rio de Janeiro, making several high-profile arrests, questions are being asked about whether the operation was a successful one  

Authorities also confiscated drugs and thousands of weapons in the favela but the majority of the estimated 600 drug traffickers appear to have escaped the crackdown.
