More blasts possible at NZ mine

Rescue teams are stuck waiting because of the risk of further explosions from the concentrated gas.

Twenty Seven men are missing, trapped underground after an explosion at a coal mine in New Zealand.

The blast ripped through a tunnel more than 200 metres below the surface of the mine on New Zealand’s South Island.

It’s now been a while since the explosion, but it’s still too dangerous for rescue teams to go down the shaft.
