UK panel backs non-EU immigrant cap

Government advisory committee says numbers should be cut by up to 25 per cent.

The number of non-EU migrant workers coming to Britain should be cut by up to 25 per cent, a government advisory committee has recommended. 

Ministers want to bring net migration down from almost 200,000 to “tens of thousands” by 2015.

But many business and education leaders say the country will be the poorer without them.
