Saving Indonesia’s volcano victims

Indonesian rescue workers are continuing to scour for survivors through the remains of many villages destroyed by the Mount Merapi volcano, which has so far claimed the lives of more than 122 people since late last month.

Authorities have also stepped up efforts to provide relief to about 200,000 people displaced from their homes following the eruptions that covered vast areas with scalding ash and poisonous gas.

Thousands of survivors have taken shelter in makeshift government camps.

Bernard Smith reports on how hospitals are struggling to cope with a flood of burnt victims brought in after the eruptions.
