Outsourcing fears cloud Obama visit

Indian companies concerned by US outsourcing cuts as US president arrives in India to boost trade.

India Obama

Barack Obama, the US president, has arrived in India on the first leg of a 10-day trip to Asia that aims to boost exports and create US jobs. He will be meeting hundreds of Indian officials and US business leaders in the country.

Trade between the two allies totals around $40bn per year and after Obama’s visit the figure is expected to rise.

But some local Indian companies fear the rise in American protectionism, as US outsourcing cuts dramatically hurt their businesses.
