Voters in Myanmar will be going to the first elections in 20 years on Sunday, even as the military government faces severe international trade sanctions.

But China continues to invest billions of dollars, fuelled mostly by an appetite for natural resources.

Al Jazeera’s correspondent, not being named due to Myanmar’s reporting restrictions, reports from Mandalay where the signs of China’s growing influence are all too visible.
