Pro-Bakiyev party bids for power
Ata Jort has pledged to bring back ousted president if it wins Sunday’s parliamentary vote.

In the run-up to Kyrgyzstan’s parliamentary elections set for November 2, a party that supports the ousted leader Kurmanbek Bakiyev says that according to a recent survey it commands more popularity than the country’s interim leadership.
Ata Jort – or the Fatherland party, which has has a stronghold in the country’s south – has pledged to bring Bakiyev back to the country if it wins the election. But a move like that is likely to reignite much unrest in a country that saw hundreds killed in an April uprising that deposed Bakiev.
