UN considers more troops to Somalia

Ugandan president says Security Council mulling his appeal for funds to expand peacekeeping mission.

Uganda’s president says the UN Security Council is considering his offer to expand the peacekeeping mission in Somalia.

Yoweri Museveni said on Wednesday that Uganda is willing to send as many as 20,000 troops to help bolster an AU peacekeeping force struggling to restore order in Somalia.

But he urged the UN to appeal for more money to allow his country the ability to do so.
