Yemen setback for Arabic learning

Once seat of Arabic learning, student numbers drop as country is labelled al-Qaeda haven.

Yemen has long been a popular destination for students wanting to learn Arabic.

It allows the learners to immerse in the culture so deep, that it is impossible to survive without picking up at least a little of the language.

But Yemen has recently been labelled a haven for al-Qaeda and as Al Jazeera’s Hashem Ahelbarra reports, this is threatening its reputation as the centre of learning for students of Arabic language.
