Chile’s president has met the 33 rescued miners at the hospital ward where they were being checked after being evacuated from the collapsed San Jose mine.
Doctors said most of the men were doing well and several were expected to be released later on Thursday, reuniting them with their families and forcing them to deal with an onslaught of global interest in their ordeal.
Al Jazeera’s Latin America editor Lucia Newman reports from “Camp Hope” at the site of the mine.
