A protest organiser warned that if immediate action was not taken, Sri Lanka could turn into “another Rwanda or worse”.

“In a couple of months’ time, we might be debating in the same sphere, saying that ‘we should have stopped a genocide in Sri Lanka’. But that might be too late,” Ambi Seevaratnam told the Associated Press.
