Shops reopened on Friday morning, after police forced dozens of outlets to close their doors to the public on Thursday.

No motive for the threat has been established.

Authorities said they received information on Wednesday night that the group was planning to put explosives in stores in the busy shopping district in southeastern Amsterdam.

Several large retail outlets such as furniture store Ikea, a movie theatre, the Ajax football stadium and immigrant neighbourhoods, are located in the area.
