Afghans sceptical about Obama plan

Obama’s plan offers stark warnings about prospects for defeating the Taliban.

As Barack Obama, the US president, announced on Tuesday that he is planning to send 30,000 additional troops into Afghanistan to strengthen the war effort and return control of the country to its leaders in 2011, Afghans voiced their concern.

One Afghan resident from the capital of Kabul said: “Until Afghanistan comes up with its own solution for its own problems, no-one from outside can help. What benefit have we got from the foreign troops already in the country?”
