Video: Testing time for Philippines

Series of powerful storms destroy $600 million worth of crops and infrastructure.

A succession of powerful storms in recent weeks has destroyed more than $600 million worth of crops and infrastructure in the Philippines.

With fishing boats beached and the seas high, 3,000 fishermen have been left high and dry since August.

This, coupled with ruined crops, means the full economic impact of the recent weather has yet to be assessed.

Al Jazeera’s Wayne Hay reports from Aparri in the northern Philippines.
