Following the end of Sri Lanka’s civil war, both the government and the separatist Tamil Tigers have come under fire for human rights abuses.
A report by the US state department has accused both sides of atrocities.
The developments come as the Sri Lankan government steps up the pace of its release of thousands of ethnic Tamil refugees. They have been living in squalid conditions in camps in the country’s north since the end of the war in May.
