Video: Iraq’s security worries

Authorities accuse neighbouring countries of stoking instability in Iraq.

Iraq has been in the throes of violence since the US-led invasion six years ago in 2003.

Bombings and murders occur on a regular basis and although the overall rate has fallen, there has been a spike in violence in the last six months.

Iraq blames the violence on its neighbours, implicating Syria for the flow of foreign fighters across the border. Iran has also been accused by the US of funding, arming and training various groups operating inside Iraq.

But, as Al Jazeera’s Omar Al-Saleh reports, with more than 3,600 km of border to patrol, Baghdad is also dependent on those countries for border security.
